FAQs

I want to apply for a skilled visa without using a migration agent. Can I do this?
Although you are able to apply for a visa without agent assistance, most visa applications that fail do so because applicants do not submit adequate information. Many people do not understand the importance of providing exactly what the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) requires. These requirements are stringent and accuracy in submission is crucial. If an application does not meet the requirements, it is rejected. Not only has an applicant wasted up to a year, there is no refund of the government's AUD$2,525 application fee, the skills assessment and health, character and langauge test fees. With recent figures suggesting over 40% of visa applications fail when submitted without the help of an agent, it makes sense to work in partnership with a qualified and experienced agent, saving you time, money and the anxiety of going it alone.

What does a migration agent do to help me get my visa?

A migration agent manages the visa process for – and with – you. This includes determining all documents required, assisting with document preparation and submission and liaising with Australian immigration officials on your behalf. If an agent offers a “no visa, no fee” guarantee, such as True Blue Migration, you can be assured that the agent is confident of a successful visa outcome. Engaging an agent to assist you greatly increases the likelihood that you'll get your visa on your first application. This is even more important if you are approaching the cut off age for entry to Australia or the UK or you have a skill or occupation that may be removed from Australia’s skilled occupation list. You may have only one chance to obtain an Australian visa to work and live ‘down under’, so make sure that your Australian migration is a success, the first time!

Why should I choose an agent who is registered?
A registered migration agent has passed formal exams to gain his or her status. The exams are comprehensive and complex, and require the agent to have a deep understanding of immigration law and practice. All registered agents are required to adhere to a Code of Conduct and undertake ongoing professional development. Overseas or Australian agents who are not registered are not accountable to a government body and do not need to maintain or update their Australian immigration knowledge.

I'm in the UK and my migration agent is in Australia. How will we communicate?
The technology age has made overseas communication economical and fast. Thanks to email, an applicant is able to stay in daily contact with his or her migration agent as required. True Blue Migration consultants are also available by phone or fax. We want to make sure that your Australian emigration is as easy as possible for you so we’ll communicate in the way that is most convenient to you.

How long does the visa application process take?
The time taken to receive a successful visa outcome varies by visa type. Some visas are granted in as little as three days, whilst other have numerous steps and may take over a year. Most skilled visas to Australia take over 12 months. We’d be happy to discuss your situation, so please send through an online visa assessment form or email us if you would like to find out more.

How much does it cost to get a visa?
The cost of a visa application is made up of three parts – the government fees, health, character and English language tests and the professional fees paid to a migration agent to manage your visa process. Our fee depends on the visa type but we are very competitively priced. As we are not based in the UK, UK applicants who team with us do not have to pay VAT.

I'm a South African but live in the UK with my Dutch fiancée. Can we come to Australia?
The Australian government recognises that people form long term relationships with people from all over the world. Irrespective of background, Australian values specific skilled trades and occupations and welcomes individuals with these skills and experience. Given your geographically diverse backgrounds, your application would involve a number of steps. We can help you determine your eligibility quickly and easily through email, or through your completion of our free online visa assessment form.

Can my partner and family come with me on my visa?
Visa applications for couples or families are more complex than those for a single applicant. In most cases, the spouse or partner and children are able to join the applicant on her or her visa application. Verifying and documenting personal relationships is a crucial part of the immigration process, and we can provide detail guidelines to assist you in this aspect of migration to Australia.
